This one is pretty tough since I usually tell people I didn't finish that particular book, usually because I hated it and had no interest in continuing to waste my time. There are some books where I will skim just so I can get to the end. Does that count? If it does, I guess I would have to go with Little Women by Louisa May Alcott.
I'm not a huge fan of this book; I read the easy, children's version when I was a kid and then the full version later for my Children's Literature class. I identify with Jo though; I think we are wonderfully similar, in some respects, but I still don't like the book. I didn't like the rest of her family, I suppose; Amy is a spoiled brat (I can't believe she burned Jo's writing) and the rest of her sisters were boring. I hate that the book gives little growth to Amy and Laurie's relationship. It seemed to sudden and they just settled for each other because Laurie couldn't be with Jo.
I tried watching the movie, the version with Winona Ryder and Christian Bale (squee) because I thought I might have missed something when I read the book, but I still disliked the characters. If anything, I was even more let down that Jo and Laurie were not together by the end.
